Ottawa, July 20, 2010 – Design 1st is pleased to announce that client ProDrive Systems has received a positive review from the Clinicial Research (CR) Foundation in their July 2010 clinician report. The CR Foundation is a non-profit, dental product evaluation group that works with practitioners around the world testing dental products through clinical and laboratory research. CR’s mission is to identify outstanding products, techniques, and equipment that deliver exceptional oral care for the benefit of dentists, clinicians and patients.
"In the clinical evaluation, ProDrive’s upgraded turbines performed well with high torque, secure chucking, and smooth cutting. Most evaluators considered ProDrive an improvement over conventional turbine designs with friction-grip chucks." - Clinicians Report, July, 2010
Highlights on Prodrive Systems from the July 2010, Clinicians Report include:
- Clinical Evaluation: 100% of CR Evaluators rated their ProDrive upgraded handpieces as excellent or good. All Evaluators stated that the ProDrive Upgrade was worthy of trial by their colleagues.
- Lab Tests: In blinded, side-by-side comparisons making clinical preparations in extracted teeth, ProDrive turbines were identified 84% of the time as having better control and precision with smoother cutting and greater torque.
- CR Conclusion: ProDrive Upgrade Turbines provide smooth and accurate cutting; clinically discernible improvements in speed and control; and the ability to safely extend the bur by 3mm when needed. The ProDrive concept shows promise and is an alternative to standard air turbine handpieces for those desiring it’s specific advantages.
New dental products have always presented a challenge to clinicians because, with little more than promotional information to guide them, they must judge between those that are new and better, and those that are just new. The July 2010, Clinician Report was helpful in identifying that the ProDrive concept shows promise and is an alternative to standard air turbine hand pieces.

About CR Foundation
The non-profit organization was started in 1976 by Drs. Gordon J. and Rella P. Christensen who believed practitioners could confirm efficacy and clinical usefulness of new products and avoid both the experimentation on patients and failures in the closet. With this purpose in mind, CRAR was organized as a unique volunteer effort where clinicians worldwide unite their expertise for the sole purpose of testing all types of dental products and disseminating results to colleagues throughout the world. CR FoundationR remains the only non-profit, private dental product evaluating group working with all types of products dedicated to serving practitioners throughout the world.
