What is a low fidelity vs. high fidelity prototype?

The fidelity of a prototype relates to a range of quality for a prototype. On the low end might be a foam mock-up to understand human factors and fit, while on the high-end fidelity scale could be a production-ready machined aluminum part that is being created to test that the tolerances of a part are acceptable before kicking off a production die-casting tool.
