Product Design Requirements
A new division of March Networks, called March TeleHealth came to Design 1st with an urgent request to transform their virtual conference technology into a fully-functional prototype for release at a tradeshow and a pilot-run in sixteen weeks.
- Ensure all functions were intuitive and easy for patients to use
- Meet the hard deadline of sixteen weeks for delivery of fully-functional prototype unit
- Design prototype so it's ready for production following results of clinical trial
Design and Engineering Challenges
Implementing Design 1st’s proven process, the team was able to overcome several obstacles to:
- Build a 3D virtual model alongside bench model testing to ensure a faultless pre-production prototype
- Integrate over a dozen features into an intuitive, user-friendly device for both patients and medical staff
- Testing and optimization of device for low-bandwidth conditions in rural communities
March TeleHealth Product Results
Through creativity and technical understanding, the Design 1st team delivered a full working March Telehealth Kit prototype that was non-intrusive, user-friendly, manufacturing ready, and durable enough to withstand unmanaged environments in people’s homes.
- The entire March Telehealth division and product were acquired by Intel following successful clinical trial
- Fully functional prototype ready on time, and on budget for launch at Medical Device tradeshow
- The world's first e-health, virtual patient monitor device with video and medical diagnostic tools
