Background & Design Requirements
The client came to Design 1st wanting to develop a wearable personal security device that would wireless alert a response center in the advent of trouble:
- Discrete, functional wearable and key-ring attachment design concept creation
- Be low-powered to maximize battery life.
- Wireless connect to security center
Prototyping Challenges
Implementing Design 1st’s proven process, the team was able to overcome several obstacles to:
- Develop multiple functional design concepts to meet both usability and technology requirements
- Custom firmware development to extend battery life, and ensure instant communication to security center
- Testing, and wireless radio selection that would work in multiple environments
Product Results
Through creativity and technical understanding, the Design 1st team developed a fully functional product with manufacturing-ready drawings for volume production.
- 3D rendering creation to support marketing materials
- Bill-of-materials, and supplier selection, for new production introduction (NPI) activities
- Successful market launch after ten months of product development and engineering
