Product Design Requirements
TabloTV chose Design 1st to transform their innovative DVR technology into an elegant design enclosure that would deal with the high heat output from advanced chipsets and stand out.
- Develop multiple design concepts of the enclosure

- Be simple-to-use and easy-to-install.
- Understand and prevent thermal issues over extended usage
Engineering Challenges
The primary engineering challenge was how to alleviate thermal issues while maintaining a sleek, compact form factor.
- Explore and test different forms with the integration of a silent, passive heatsink.
- Build a 3D CAD virtual model to run FEA thermal simulations to understand heat and air flow during operation.
- Build multiple benchmodel prototypes for testing.
Product Results
The six-month product development project resulted in a pre-production prototype ready for market launch at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas.
